October is bringing a fresh mix of new finds to Amaranth, with plenty of local and Canadian-made products in the spotlight. This month’s lineup includes everything from gut health and protein-focused products to seasonal favourites, local dairy, pantry staples, and a few especially exciting Alberta-made additions.
As always, we’ve looked for products with thoughtful ingredients, interesting stories, and a strong fit with what we value at Amaranth.
Amaranth Tallow Potato Chips
Our new Amaranth-label tallow potato chips are made in Alberta with a short, simple ingredient list and no seed oils. The chips start with Saskatchewan russet potatoes and are cooked in animal fats rather than conventional vegetable oils.
The BBQ flavour is made with 100% grass-fed Alberta beef tallow, while the Sea Salt version uses a blend of 51% Saskatchewan bison tallow and 49% Alberta beef tallow, finished with Vancouver Island sea salt. It’s a product that reflects a lot of what we look for at Amaranth: simple ingredients, regional sourcing, and a more traditional approach to how everyday foods are made.

Seasonal October Finds
BYOB Soap Seasonal Scents
An Edmonton-based, family-run brand that hand-makes each batch using 100% Canadian-sourced ingredients, including organic coconut and olive oils. The brand was built around the idea that everyday products like hand soap can still feel thoughtful, well-made, and a little more personal.
For fall, BYOB has added three seasonal scents inspired by familiar autumn favourites: Spiced Apple with apple, cinnamon, nutmeg, and vanilla; Pumpkin Chai with creamy pumpkin and chai spices; and Sugar & Spice with brown sugar, cinnamon, and vanilla notes.

Moody Bee Seasonal Lip Balms
Is a Canadian lip balm brand known for its smooth formulas and playful flavour combinations. For fall, a few seasonal favourites are joining the lineup, inspired by familiar scents and flavours that tend to come around with the cooler weather.
Pumpkin Spice brings together classic autumn spices, Apple Pie has a warm, nostalgic baked-apple scent, and Hot Chocolate combines natural chocolate flavour with a touch of marshmallow.

A Barley fibre supplement produced by family-owned Sunny Boy Foods in Camrose, Alberta. Made with non-GMO Canadian barley, it provides a concentrated source of beta-glucan fibre to support digestive health and help maintain healthy blood sugar and cholesterol levels.
The beta-glucans are extracted without the use of chemicals, enzymes, or water, creating a simple daily fibre supplement made from Canadian grain.

Organic Traditions
Adding two new fibre-focused options designed to make everyday digestive support simple and easy to work into your routine. Introducing two new supplements focused on skin health and restful sleep. Daily Skin Renewal combines astaxanthin with collagen, konjac, vitamin C, vitamin E, zinc, and beta-carotene to support hydrated, healthy-looking skin from within, while Magnesium + Plant-Based Melatonin pairs magnesium with tomato-derived phytomelatonin to support relaxation and sleep.

Evolve
Has added a new tropical twist to its Essential Electrolytes lineup with Salted Tropical, a refreshing blend of passion fruit, orange, and guava. It has a slightly sweeter flavour profile than their Lemon and Watermelon varieties while keeping the same electrolyte base.

Is a Canadian-made topical balm that was added after positive customer feedback. It’s formulated with natural ingredients and is intended for use around the forehead, temples, neck, and behind the ears during headaches or periods of tension.

Elmhurst 1925 Clean Protein
Its ready-to-drink Clean Protein shakes to Canada, adding another option to the growing plant-based protein category. Each shake provides 27 g of protein from pea and mung bean protein, with 4 g of sugar or less and no gums, seed oils, fillers, artificial sweeteners, or artificial flavours.
The flavours use simple bases like cashew or pistachio milk, with ingredients such as real strawberry purée, cocoa, vanilla extract, and chicory root fibre depending on the variety.

A family-run Vancouver brand created by parents who were looking for an easier way to help their own kids get more vegetables. After plenty of trial and error - and neighbourhood kid taste-testing - they developed a juice box that keeps the familiar format kids already know while rethinking what goes inside.
Their Mixed Berry drink is made with organic apple juice and vegetables including beet, spinach, carrot, broccoli, and onion. Each 4-pack is non-GMO, naturally flavoured, and made without artificial ingredients, with 2 g of sugar and 15 calories per serving.

Rafiki Avocado Oil
Is a Vancouver-based brand focused on traceable, single-origin avocado oil sourced directly from smallholder farmers in Kenya. Their Extra-Virgin Avocado Oil is unrefined, unblended, and undeodorized, which helps preserve the oil’s natural character and keeps the ingredient list simple.
One of the biggest benefits is transparency: the oil is third-party lab tested for purity, so customers know they’re getting genuine avocado oil rather than a blend. It’s also versatile enough for both hot and cold uses, from cooking and roasting to dressings, dips, and finishing dishes.

Greidanus Honey Mill
Is a family-run operation near High River, Alberta, with nearly 50 years and two generations of experience producing honey. Their honey is raw, unpasteurized, 100% Canadian, and True Source Certified, which means it is ethically and sustainably sourced.
The family keeps processing to a minimum, avoiding re-melting or re-processing so the honey stays as close to the hive as possible. We’re also excited to be the only retailer in Alberta currently carrying Greidanus Honey Mill products.

Protein Munchables
A Saskatchewan-based brand built around the idea that higher-protein snacks can still feel like something you genuinely want to eat. The founders focus on soft, chewy cookies made with real ingredients and no artificial flavours, with each batch made carefully to balance nutrition with taste and texture.
Each cookie contains 10 g of protein and 7 g of fibre, is gluten-free, and comes in flavours ranging from classic Chocolate Chip and Oatmeal Chocolate Chip to Matcha White Chip for something a little different.

A Calgary-based company founded by sisters Claudia and Kezia Pasaribu, who created the brand around a shared love of simple, thoughtfully made snacks. Their products are made without gluten or nut ingredients and are free from artificial additives and preservatives.
Their Crunchy Brownies put a crisp twist on a classic brownie, using rich dark chocolate and simple ingredients for a snack that feels familiar but a little different. The lineup includes Sea Salt, Dark Chocolate, and Roasted Pumpkin Seed.

Lone Pine Jerseys & Creamery
Is a family-owned dairy farm just east of Didsbury, Alberta, with roots dating back to 1993. The Haeni family came to Canada from Switzerland and built their farm around Jersey cows, quality milk, and responsible animal care. Today, three generations are involved in the operation.
Jersey cows are known for producing naturally rich, creamy milk, and Lone Pine keeps processing simple. Their whole milk is pasteurized but not homogenized, with nothing added or removed, so the cream naturally rises to the top. The farm also makes chocolate milk and fresh cheese curds using its own Jersey milk.
